Dinosaur Roar Card

Hi hope you are all enjoying the olympics, I am pretty adicted!! Go GB, whilst watching it today I made this birthday card with the gorgeous Dinosaur Roar set. Sorry I haven't taken the best pic.
The foot prints, which are not part of the set are actually petals from an old retired set, which I think is called spring time stems, I have  added a little bit of shadowing and the green toe nails to transform them into T-Rex prints. I love using the blender pens on this dino's they always come out well. Hope you like it thanks for stopping by.

This is why I make room for Cut Flowers!!!

For anyone who would question making room for flowers in a small plot I would argue several points such as adding diversity for bees and insects, making the plot look gorgeous and being able to fill small gaps not to mention the ecstorshanate price of cut flowers, but if they were still in doubt, here is the main reason:

How much would this bouquet have cost me £10 or £12? they look and smell gorgeous and there is still more on the plot for me and the insects to enjoy. Next year I am going to add to the flower boarders I have introduced this year and I am going to aim to have something in flower for the bees each month.

I have been crafting this week, but am not able to show what I have made so far as they are gifts, but I will be back soon with some crafty creations.

Thanks for stopping by

Ladybird Hotel

It is far too nice to be crafting although I have just been to a scrapbooking workshop, but I will show you those pictures another time. I just wanted to show you a family project for the allotment. We have been trying hard to encourage wildlife on to the plot as well as educate the boys about ecosystems and the importance of insects, so we built a ladybird hotel. We had an old bird feeder kicking about, Gary cut some bamboo down and wood glued it in. I managed to get these cute little wooden ladybirds on ebay and we have glue gunned them on, a cute little ladybird hotel and way cheaper than you would but in the shops.
Ladybirds survive the winter if they can huddle together somewhere warm and dry, lets hope they like their rustic retreat!!!

Homemade Gifts

One thing I really love about stamping up is that you are able to combine hobbies. I have been making Jam and thought Finn and Sam could give their teachers a jar each, as an end of year present. The Kilner Jars are so plain, so out comes the stampin up stash!

I think they are quite cute.
If you would like to take a look at the pictures from VERA (Vectis Rd Allotments in East Cowes) when we visited the apiaries there then click on the "view from the gate" tab at the top, and you can find out how to make the Blackcurrant Jam by clicking on the recipe link.

View From The Fridge Door

Ok, this post has no relation to crafting what so ever, but I thought I would share with you the importance of expecting the unexpected in my house. Gary went fishing last night and then got up and went to work this morning, when I went to the fridge to get the milk, I found the veggie compartment contained a massive LIVE lobster!!!!
I assume he has caught it and he hasn't visited an all night fishmongers as it is well known that he mostly catches weeds and colds. So unfortunately for this fellow I think he will shortly be joining the jam  in my Recipe section.

We have more excitement later today as the Olympic Flame is passing through Carisbrooke this afternoon so hopefully we will go and see it if the weather stays fine. Then tomorrow we are going to visit a local apiary to find out some more bee facts, so we have a busy weekend in front of us!

Have a nice, hopefully dry day and thanks for stopping by.

Thank You Pillow Boxes

It's only a week until school breaks up and not wanting to do the usual last minute dash to the shops for a thank you gift for the teachers I have made some thank you pillow boxes to fill with sweeties. It's the first year Sam has been at pre school, and he has a lot of teachers, so I thought these would be a perfect little gesture for them all.
Hope you like them! They were quite straight forward to make, but drop me a line if you have any questions or comments. Thanks for stopping by.

Shabby Chic Heart Decoration

I saw a bargain at work the other day, these gorgeous shabby chic hearts for just £3.00, what a bargain. It was a little plain and so thought I would Stamp it Up a little! So with a mixture of papers a couple of brads, some ribbon and my favorite butterfly stamp I came up with this:

It's late so the light isn't great in the photo's, but it does look really pretty in real life. Hope you like it, I am definately going to buy a couple more for gifts.

Thanks for popping by, click on the tabs at the top (next to home, for some reason the words only show when you hover your mouse over them) for allotment and recipe updates.

Sorry I'm Late Snail!

Firstly thank you to everyone who has posted me comments this week. I have been touched by everyone asking after Finn & Sam, I can't say either are 100%, but much better than they were.

This evening I have been taking part in the ColourQ challenge
These are gorgeous summer colours and I thought they would lend themselves perfectly to my funky little mushroom's in the aptly named "Funky Four" set. The sentiment is from the "Happiest Birthday Wishes " hostess set and the snail from "Easy Events". I have been finding myself using this little snail quite a bit, if I think I haven't popped a card in the post early enough I stamp him on the envelope, he is sooo cute. So here is my card

I hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Make a Monster

My uncle has been poorly the last couple of days and I needed to make a quick card to pop in the post. As he is a bit of a joker I didn't really want to make a serious one, so my new "make a monster" set came in useful!
I forgot to take a photo before I wrote the card out, hence this silly photo of the inside!
Hope you like it thanks for stopping by.

Less is More Challenge

Well the end of my holiday did not turn out as expected as both my boy's decided once again to be poorly on the same night with different things, resulting in one in hospital for the best part of 2 days and the other laid on the sofa, leaving me and Gary to do shifts with each! Thankfully they are both on the mend, but I am back to work tomrrow and need another holiday already!

Having an hour actually to myself this evening I thought I would take part in this weeks Less is More   challenge, the inspiration this week is the Less is more logo
Here is what I came up with
For those of you who have not visited the Less is More blog, the general idea is to leave a large area of white space and to keep embelishments etc to a minimum (quite difficult actually). Hope you like it.

Heres hoping for a boring week when the most exciting thing that happens is lots of card making!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by!
